Set amongst vineyards and olive groves between the stunning city or Lucca
and bustling town of Montecatini, the Villa Allerta is a beautiful stone farmhouse with private pool and garden.
One of a cluster of just three houses, Allerta has been renovated with great care in order to retain many of the
original features such as beamed ceilings in two of the bedrooms, and areas of exposed brickwork. Large windows
allow the light to flood in, lending the house a spacious and airy feel. The ground floor comprises a large kitchen/breakfast
room which has been well equipped with a hob, full oven, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, separate freezer
and microwave. The living room with floor to ceiling windows offers lovely views over the garden and a sofabed
should you need a little extra space or more flexible sleeping arrangements. Also on this level is a double bedroom
with television and two shower rooms each with toilet. The first floor offers two further bedrooms; one with double
bed and one with twin beds, both with ensuite shower room/toilet and television.
Outside is a paved terrace area with table, chairs, barbecue and a gazebo where you can enjoy a long lunch before
taking a well earned siesta by the pool, or maybe try one of the excellent local wines and a few olives to whet
your appetite before venturing into the village for dinner. The pool is located at the edge of the property - just
next to a vineyard - approximately 100 metres from the house and is for the private use of the guests at Allerta.
With a south easterly aspect, and lovely views over the surrounding vines and rolling Tuscan hills, Allerta is
the perfect sport to enjoy the sun all day long.
This area is full of things to see and do, making it equally suited to families or couples. Those who like to explore
can discover the amazing Thermal baths at Montecatini, the walled city of Lucca, the medieval villages and hamlets
of the area, rich in history and traditions, whilst children will love the Pinocchio Park and Grazoni Butterfly
house at Collodi, just a short drive away. If you're looking for a spot of culture, take a day trip to Florence
or Pisa where you can admire the wonders of Italian architecture and visit the monuments and museums. The more
active can take part in the various sports on offer such as golf, horse riding, tennis or mountain biking.
If wine tasting is your thing, you can follow the wine route which ambles through Lucca, Santo Stefano towards
San Quirico di Moriano, Valgiano, Gragnano to Montecarlo. The hilltop town of Montecarlo is situated west of Florenc,
just 3km from Villa Allerta. Although the town was founded for warlike purposes, it is an oasis of tranquillity,
with vast expanses of vineyards and olive orchards extending outward from the town as far as the eye can see. Those
vineyards are the source of Montecarlo wine. The wine of Montecarlo remains true to its history since it is generally
considered one of the enological treasures of Tuscany. Montecarlo DOC makes only a bianco and a rosso, the former
with the best reputation. The white wine uses mainly trebbiano, but a host of other grapes are allowed such as
Pinot Bianco (pinot blanc), Pinot Grigio (pinot gris), roussanne, Sauvignon (sauvignon blanc), sémillon,
and vermentino. The red wine uses from 50 to 75 percent sangiovese, plus canaiolo, Cilegiolo, Colorino, malvasia,
and syrah.
