At the heart of Le Casacce is the 'Agriristorante' restaurant where Enrico
Casini, an esteemed chef is waiting to tempt your palate with gastronomic delights. Every evening a different six-course
menu will be served, with local wines if you wish. Fresh baked breads as well as pasta and noodles rolled by hand
in the traditional manner are prepared fresh each day by Stefania, Enrico's wife, as well as a huge choice of home-made
sweets and sorbets.
Enrico and Stefania, and their families, also produce an important and particular wine of the Maremma area, called
'Poggio Ciliegio', that is available at the restaurant, together with their sangiovese wine 'Il dono'. These wines
can also be found during the guided wine-tasting tours in the most important wine cellars of the surrounding area
which include all the most important wines of Montalcino, the Tuscany region, and the new wines of the area of
Monecucco.
Enrico stops at nothing to ensure the very best local ingredients, and many of his personally selected cheeses, cold
cuts and wines, as well as a few delicous specialities can be bought from the Osteria to take home with you as
a souvenir of your stay. Also on offer are various delicous products "de.c.o." (which means that they
come exclusively from the territory of the comunity of Seggiano), typical soups and "polenta", in an
antique and fascinating countryside atmosphere.
In order to offer a comprehensive range of wine and food tasting possibilities together with some cultural curiosities
from the past, your host Enrico Casini has opened the "Seggiano Caffé" ( 3 km from Le Casacce),
where you can enjoy in a pleasant country atmosphere, delicious breakfasts or lunches with home-made cakes, tasty
Neapolitan pizzas and roman-style toasted bread; mouth-watering traditional or specially created recipes, delicious
snacks with cheese and salami selections combined with daily home-made breads and the wines from the cellar, all
the time accompanied by the sentimental background music of famous hits from the sixties played by a genuine dear
old juke-box.
It is also possible to arrange guided visits to the cheese factories of Seggiano, where you can taste the extraordinary
"pecorino", a cheese produced with the local sheep milk.
The farm also produces the excellent olive oil of Seggiano. Extracted from their own harvest, and under the guidance
of Luigi Veronelli (another renowned chef), the olives are pressed every 4 to 6 hours, in order to guarantee the
highest quality. The pressing of oil happens in the new oil-press factory, where guided visits can be arranged
on request, offering tastings of the different "cru" (types of cold-pressed oil). All the produce is
labelled with the tree of origin and the nutritional values.
2006 was a year of enormous satisfaction for Le Casacce when their olive oil 'Fiore di Seggiano' was awarded with
the 5 'gocce' drops of the AIS - guide of oils (Guida degli Olii dell'AIS) - the most important award in the world
of extra virgin olive oil production in Italy.
The area is amongst the most beautiful of romantic Tuscany and Le Casacce
is an ideal base to explore the surrounding ancient towns, grand villas, vineyards and gardens. Tasting tours of
the wineries and pecorino cheese producers add a further dimension to a holiday overflowing with beauty, culture,
charm and gastronomy.
