Beautifully situated overlooking the village of Gaiole in the heart of the Chianti region is Borgo di Gaiole, a spacious 2 bedroom apartment with stunning views over the village and to the vineyards. Modelled on the nearby medieval village of Vertine, the Borgo is a well thought-out development of approximately 40 apartments, just a few minutes walk from the centre of Gaiole. The living area is furnished with a kingsize sofa-bed and a number of comfortable chairs. Additional foldaway beds are also available. There is a fully equipped kitchen and dining area. The dining table is extendable and comes with 6 seats. There is an electric hob and oven, a fridge with a good size freezer compartment, iron, and ironing board. There is a shower cubicle in the fully tiled bathroom. The main bedroom has a kingsize bed, 2 bed side cabinets and a wardrobe. The second bedroom has 2 single beds, 2 bedside tables and a wardrobe. The apartment faces onto the terrace were the huge half moon shaped swimming pool is located (shared). There is underground garage car parking and lot 39 is allocated to the apartment. There are also communal washing machines and dryers and a small gym in the Borgo. The village of Gaiole has a supermarket and a selection of shops such as traditional delis, a butchers, a bakery, a pharmacy, banks, together with a number of restaurants, a pizza takeaway together with a couple of bars and cafes. There is a childrens play area/park, tennis courts and football pitch. There is a tourist information office in the village which is a great place to find out all that is happening in the area. In the summer months there is a full range of activities in the evening time in the centre of the village such as wine tasting and musical performances. Gaiole is historically one of the capitals of the Chianti region, which is famous for its amazing landscape of vineyards and olive groves and the world renowned olive oil and wine. The Borgo is in the heart of the Chianti Classico region which is home to some of Italy's best wineries and food producers. The area prides itself on its traditional cuisine which is loved all over the world. A number of medieval castles which produce their own wine, such as Castello di Brolio and Castelo Meleto are within 10-15 minutes drive or varying walking times of Gaiole. Most of the wineries and olive farms sell their produce direct to the public and very often provide tours and free wine tasting. Within a few minutes walk of the apartment there is Castello di Spaltenna, a converted monastery which is now 5 star hotel, the ideal place for a treat lunch or evening meal. There are 6 UNECSO World Heritage Sites within the surrounding area. These are: Historic Centre of Siena. Historic Centre of Florence. Historic Centre of San Gimignano Piazza del Duomo, Pisa Val d'Orcia Historic Centre of the City of Pienza The amazing city of Siena is 30 minutes drive approximately from Gaiole. It hosts The Palio horse race in the Piazza del Campo twice a year in July and August. The amazing city of Florence (Firenze) is about a 1 hour drive approximately from Gaiole. It has been said that Florence has been unfairly over blessed with art, culture and history. It was the Cradle of the Renaissance and home of the likes of Niccolo Machiavelli, Michalangelo and the Medici family. The Palazzo degli Uffizi, the Ponte Vecchio and Piazza del Duomo are amongst a few of the city's amazing sites. Firenze is truly an amazing city. Siena and Florence would be 'must sees' on any visit to the area and there is a saying "Siena by day, Florence by night".
