With meadows bordering onto woods of elm and oak trees, the Residence Il Selvatellino has a beautiful open outlook onto fields and the Tuscan countryside, which gives a real feeling of the Italian 'campagna'. Situated almost halfway between San Gimignano and Siena in a tranquil setting, Il Selvatellino is an old hamlet that has been lovingly restored to provide comfortable apartments set amongst woods of oak, beech and chestnut trees overlooking the beautiful countryside. The residence has a real village feel to it, with cobbled alleyways which wind their way between the buildings and are bordered with vibrant geraniums and lavenders which provide a riot of colour during the summer. As one would expect, the apartments all have their own character and style, and have managed to retain their charm and a number of original features such as the traditional style roofs and exposed wood beams. Each has an outdoor area where you can eat al fresco or just relax and enjoy the warm of the Tuscan sun. There is also an independent mini-villa which sleeps 4 people Central to Il Selvatellino is the huge pool (14 x 6m) with plenty of space to relax on one of the sun beds and parasols in the large solarium, and a garden with childrens play area for the little ones. There is a large covered pergola where themes Tuscan evenings are held from time to time, and a communal barbeque for the use of guests. Mountain bikes and mopeds can be hired, and horesriding and tennis are offered nearby, so there really is something for everyone! Situated just an hour or so from Florence and about half way between San Gimignano and Siena, the residence is ideal for those who want to explore as well as those who just want to relax and recharge their batteries. All the major historic sites such as Siena, San Gimignan and Florence are within reach, as well as the villages of the Chianti region if you really want to appreciate the authenticity of the area. The nearest village, Pievescola is just 2 km away, as is the nearest restaurant. Casole d'Elsa with restaurants and shops is 6kms and there is a choice of bigger towns within easy driving distance.
